Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Guiding Growth different from other career counseling services?

At Guiding Growth, we believe career decisions should be based on understanding the individual, not just choosing a course. Our approach combines scientifically validated psychometric assessments with personalized career counseling and psychological insights to help students, graduates, and young professionals make confident career and life decisions. We focus on long-term career satisfaction by aligning strengths, personality, interests, values, and aspirations.

Is online career counseling as effective as in-person counseling?

Yes. Online career counseling can be just as effective as in-person counseling when conducted in a structured and personalized manner. At Guiding Growth, every session is one-on-one and tailored to the individual's needs. Psychometric assessments, detailed report discussions, and personalized guidance ensure students and parents receive the same clarity and confidence to make informed career decisions.

Are Parents part of the counseling Process?

Yes. We believe the best career decisions are made when students and parents work together.

Parents are encouraged to participate in the counseling session to gain clarity, understand their child's unique potential, and support decisions that are based on the student's strengths rather than expectations or external pressure.

When should my child start career counseling?

Career awareness can begin as early as Grade 8.

Grade 8th and 9th is not about freezing on a specific career but is the ideal time for students to discover their strengths, explore career possibilities, and make informed decisions without last-minute pressure. It also gives them time to build the right skills, habits, experiences, and profile that prepare them for their future success.

By the time they choose their stream after Grade 10, they can make informed decisions with confidence.

Are classes 8th and 9th too early to start the Career Exploration Journey?

Not at all. Classes 8 and 9 are the ideal time to begin career exploration—not to choose a career, but to help students understand their strengths, interests, personality, and learning style.

Students can understand themselves better, research career options, experience different professions through virtual internships, and develop the habits, skills, and systems needed for future success—all before making important academic decisions. Students can utilize this time better to make themselves  future ready.

My child is confused about choosing a stream after Grade 10. What should we do?

It's completely normal to feel confused. Choosing a stream is one of the first major academic decisions students make, and uncertainty is a natural part of the process.

Choosing a stream should not be based only on marks, pressure or popular choices. The best decision considers your child's aptitude, personality, interests, strengths, and long-term career goals. Career counseling, combined with scientifically validated psychometric assessments, helps students and parents make an informed and confident stream selection by helping the child get self-clarity before choosing Stream.

What if my child has multiple interests?

Having multiple interests is more common than you might think and is often a sign of curiosity and versatility—not confusion.

Our psychometric assessments help identify patterns across your child's personality, aptitude, interests, values, and work preferences to determine which interests are genuine, which align with their natural strengths, and how they can be integrated into suitable career paths.

The goal isn't to limit choices—it's to help your child make informed and confident decisions based on who they are.

How do I know which stream is right for my child?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer. The right stream is one that aligns with your child's personality, interests, aptitude, strengths, and long-term aspirations—not just their marks.

At Guiding Growth, we combine scientific psychometric assessments with counseling psychology to understand not only what your child is good at, but also who they are. This holistic approach helps students choose a stream that is both academically suitable and personally fulfilling. .

Is Science better than Commerce or Humanities?

No. There is no "best" stream.  It's one of the most  common Myth that Science is better than Commerce and Humanities. There are Enormous Career oppurtunities and high paying careers in each stream.

The right stream tis one that best fits your child's strengths, interests, personality, and career goals. The right choice is the one where your child is most likely to enjoy learning, perform well, and build a fulfilling future.

What if my child chooses a stream only because of friends or family expectations?

During adolescence, peer influence and family expectations are natural. However, stream decisions should be based on the student's unique strengths and interests. Scientific psychometric assessments provide objective insights, helping families make informed decisions with confidence rather than relying on external influence.

My child performs well in every subject. How do we decide on a stream?

Academic success doesn't always translate into long-term career satisfaction or professional success. Many high-performing students have multiple strengths.

The key is to identify where their personality, interests, natural abilities, and values align. When these align, students are more likely to choose a career that is both fulfilling and sustainable.
